Bloomfield high school edged Linton 25 to 21 after overcoming a 19-18 fourth quarter tie. Osborn and D Dowden led Bloomfield with key scores as the Beasleymen pulled ahead late and preserved the win. Lin ton B team also topped Cardinal reserves 22-14 in the curtain-raiser.
Names of motorists who assisted Thomas Hyslop after a Wednesday night burn were released today. Carl Eads and his son of Dugger and Howard Salesman of that community brought the injured man to Freeland-Greene County Hospital.
The February term of the Greene circuit court in Bloomfield opens Feb 17 with three criminal cases on the docket. Cases include State vs Paul Walker for child neglect Feb 21, State vs William Owings for DUI Feb 23, and State vs Gilbert Chandler for reckless driving with a hearing set March 1. A civil action Asberry Johnson vs Logan Johnson was dismissed. Marion Bays obtained a divorce from Opal Bays with child custody granted for June July and August.
Cleaning and remodeling start at the Linton public library with chair and table repairs walls washing and extensive painting. The washing is sponsored by the Linton Tri Kappa sorority. Librarian Miss Margaret Cooner invites clubs and organizations to contact her to arrange meeting schedules.
Emma Etta Rhodes age 62 died at 3:45 this morning in her Smith township home. Born April 14 1877 she was the wife of William Rhodes. Funeral services are set for 1 pm Monday at Mt. Vernon Church near Worthington with burial in Walker Cemetery.
Wayne Seotr seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Charles E Scott of Jasonville route 1 was admitted this morning for treatment. Mrs Rufus Suthard of Ninth street northeast remains about the same, it was said.
Dr C C Hamilton will referee a benefit basketball game at the local high school to aid the Linton junior high Welders net team. New players announced include Cheap John Jr for the fat team Elmer Harvey and Clyde Breck for the tea team. Welders A face Swift City graders and Welders B meet Pleasantville B squad with advance ticket sale under way in Linton.
Pleasantville High School defeated Sandborn 33 to 31 in a basketball game at Sandborn. The Blue Streaks trailed 7 3 after the first quarter but led 13 12 at halftime and 24 18 after three periods. Bedwell brothers and Mitchell led Pleasantville while Pitcher starred for Sandborn. The Sandborn B squad beat the Little Streaks 24 18.
Dorothy Jean Foster age 13, of Bicknell, married James Harrell 21, after her mother and the stepfather aided by false statements to obtain a license. Homer Foster, the girl's father, says he has custody and has reported the incident to county officials in Vincennes, Indiana.
