Fatal Indiana Crash Ends State’s Deathless Weekend Run
A single fatal crash disrupted Indiana’s bid for a deathless 54 hour weekend. Billy Brooks, 17, of Marion, died Friday night when his car skid and struck a tree. Plane crash near Kerrville kills three and burns bodies
A chartered transport with 23 on board crashed at Kerrville Municipal Airport after icing on its wings and a jammed landing gear. Three crewmembers died: pilot W. O. Epps 42 of Eugene Oregon second pilot Harvey Hitt 38 of Portland Oregon and Idaho National Guardsman Robert C Griffith 19 of Ola Idaho. One survivor Amman Basic Sherman Anderson 19 of Ontario Oregon described the chaotic dash to escape as fire consumed the craft. Authorities said the plane was chartered by General Airways Inc Portland Oregon for National Guard training flights.

Four Bloomfield Family Hurt in East Bloomfield Crash
Four members of a Bloomfield family were treated at Greene County Hospital after a Friday night crash on state road 64 at the east edge of Bloomfield. Rev. Fred Deckard and his wife plus their children Freddy and Maxine suffered facial cuts, minor bruises, a leg injury, and more facial cuts respectively. driver David Oe L of Odon escaped injury. State Policeman James O. Smith investigated and noted Spark car driver Young Sparks attempted a left turn into a Bloomfield calbee driveway, with limited eastbound visibility. Damages were estimated around 550 dollars to the Deckard wagon and the Sparks vehicle sustained an unknown amount. Frank C. Dean, Bloomfield justice of the peace, scheduled a hearing for Sparks later this week.
