Air Force Captain James W Hurt III of Indianapolis has been approved for a year long astronaut training course. The 1958 Purdue electrical engineering graduate reports to Edwards Air Force Base California for training after serving as master instructor pilot at Webb AFB Texas. Hurt nicknamed Kilowatt stems from his electrical interests and he hails from a family of pilots including grandfather Col James W Hurt grandmother Mildred Hurt and uncle William L Hurt a lieutenant colonel in the Indiana Air National Guard.
