American Ambassador Joseph Clark Grew filed strong written protest over the machine-gunning and sinking of the Panay by Japanese forces. Reports say the incident was the most serious part of the attack, with armed Japanese troops boarding Panay under field gun protection. James W. Holloway of Indianapolis pleaded guilty in Linton City police court to stealing six tons of coal from the Richardson mine northwest of Linton. Switz City beat Midland 44 to 24 at Cross Roads town. The Switz City squad led 8-5 after the first quarter and 16-10 at halftime. Harper paced the winners with 16 points on eight field goals.
The undefeated Sullivan High School Golden Arrows defeated Central of Evansville 24 to 22 at Sullivan. Webb, their tall center, led the attack with five field goals and a foul. The half ended tied at 12 to 12.
Mrs Oscar Dunning of 180 Seventh Street Southeast is reported critically ill with pneumonia. Her condition today remains about the same.
