Mrs Rex Winters of Linton suffers a broken arm after a vehicle collision on U 38 and Highway 41 near Pi mento during the heaviest snowfall of the season. The Kramer auto was moving slowly as a truck approached, ice and poor visibility cited. Weather observer reports 2.2 inches of snow and 1.36 inches of precipitation, with cooling temps and power outages fading as roads improve.
The second annual community wide Christmas party for all Linton children will be at 2 PM Saturday in the old gymnasium of the local high school. Rev. Lozier Ziegler shows Nativity motion pictures while Rev. Baldridge leads singing and Rev. Spie gel offers prayer. Santa Claus will distribute treats from a lighted Christmas tree and Rev. Medcalf gives the Benediction. About 350 children attended last year. organizers expect a large turnout.
The combined choirs of the First Christian church will present a miscellaneous program of music and readings at 7 o'clock Sunday evening at the church. Rev. Grady Spiegel, pastor, announced today and invited all church members and the public to attend.
Marcel Coulomb 64 a Linton resident died at 11 30 PM Monday at his Sixth and G NW home after a paralytic stroke in March. Born July 17 1883 in Ales Gard France he came to America in 1912 and to Linton in 1913. Survived by widow Denise two relatives Marcel J Coulomb and Marcel J Coulomb Jr. Funeral 2 PM Friday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
In Knox Indiana 53 year old bartender Carl Eric Rosander and his lover Gertrude Hoke were found dead in a car near a lake. Sheriff Elmer Anderson says Rosander shot Hoke then killed himself aiming to end the affair after her husband agreed to divorce and Rosander refused to give up his wife. The couple died about 10 p.m. Sunday with Hoke seated upright and Rosander with a cigarette in his mouth.
The Linton F H C club will meet at 7 o clock Wednesday evening at Mrs Mildred Walton's home with co hostesses Mrs Edith Core and Mrs Mable Henico. Members should bring a $1 gift for the grab bag.
A Christmas Eve snowstorm near Centerville Indiana produced a fatal crash when a semi trailer rammed a bus that had skidded on a snow packed highway. The deceased were Clifford Kidswell of Dayton and John D Lewis of unknown address. Eleven others were injured including James Lacey and John Lemley in very critical condition. The Interstate Dispatch Company truck from Chicago owned the trailer and driver Lloyd Green of Chicago, and bus driver John Dentle of Indianapolis were among the injured.
A girl born to Mrs Wy mona Cooper of Bloomfield today and a boy born to Mrs Betty Figg of Bloomfield. Several patients including Mrs Mary Louise Canady of Sandborn and Mrs Thelma L Eller of Solsberry admitted yesterday for medical treatment. others dismissed or home today from nearby towns.
F Ray Stahl of Worthington topped the Greene county Five Acre corn contest with 117 bushels per acre on his five acre plot. Junior winner William Baker led juniors at 112.9 bushels per acre with Bill White close behind at 112.8.
Funeral services for Lena Nichols 62 of Indianapolis will be held Wednesday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home. She died Sunday at 2158 North Meridian Street Indianapolis born October 9 1885 in Fountainetta. Survived by daughter Violet Harshman Indianapolis brother Red Huffiman Indianapolis sisters Lillie Edington Toledo and Flo Allen California and grandson Kaulmer Robertson Linton. Burial in Fairview cemetery.
Nurses in Greene County plan a Christmas party on Thursday December 18 at 7 PM at the home of Miss Grace Dyer in Worthington. Mrs Clyde Spensler will arrange transportation for attendees.
Senator Homer Ferguson said he will ask the Senate Appropriations Committee to subpoena government lists of large commodity market traders if the administration continues to deny Congress access. He would seek records of anyone with more than 200000 bushels of grain if Secretary Anderson blocks disclosure as unlawful.
London dispatch reports Secretary of State George Marshall ruling out a separate peace with western Germany as the Big Four Conference collapses. Marshall, urged by aides, rejects a peace treaty while exploring alternatives for western Germany and reaction to the Council of Foreign Ministers’ failure.
The House appropriations panel approved a $348 million reduction in foreign spending, proposing $509 million for the Stop-gap foreign aid program from an authorized $597 million. China funding was cut. remaining funds went to France Italy and Austria. Army occupation and relief money to support Germany Japan Korea and Austria was trimmed.

Mr and Mrs Thomas Wakefield longtime Linton residents will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a noon dinner for immediate family and an open house in the afternoon at 58 Third Street Southeast. They married December 19 1897 in Worthington. Mr Wakefield 74 and Mrs Wakefield 68 have four sons two daughters fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
President William Green said the American Federation of Labor will use all power to bring John L. Lewis and his 530000 miners back into the fold. He noted AFL regrets the withdrawal and hopes calm deliberation will lead to a return, while not altering Taft Hartley Law conditions.

Judge Ralph A. Seal set January 12 for the retrial of former Oakland City night marshal Lawrence Johnson, accused of shooting prisoner Robert Miller. The first trial ended in a hung jury after Miller’s Sept 12 arrest for intoxication as Johnson claimed self defense.
