Winter sports camp for women at Texas Technological College will be held during Christmas holidays in Santa Fe New Mexico. Lessons in skiing toboganning and ice skating will be offered by the program for participants from the West Texas plains campus.
A vast ice glaze from rain and sleet paralyzed travel across Indiana forcing school closures in Perry County North Vernon and Vevay as buses could not run. The State Highway Commission dispatched crews to spread sand and ashes while motorists faced hundreds of minor accidents and blocked roads.
Mrs. Fannie Fulkerson, 97, longtime Linton resident, died Saturday in Vero Beach Florida. She moved to Florida ten years ago to live with Addie M. Fulkerson Vaughn. Surviving are her daughter Mrs. Vaughn of Vero Beach, son Charles Fulkerson of Terre Haute, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday at Cox Funeral Home Vero Beach with Rev. FE Norton officiating. Interment followed at Vero Beach Burial Park.
Three girls were injured and seventeen children escaped unharmed when a car skidded into a school bus on US Highway 41 south of Sullivan Indiana. Rebecca Drake, 15, Paxton, suffered injuries not considered serious. Eileen Cox and Edna Palmer, both injured, received hospital treatment for cuts and bruises. The bus carried Paxton students en route to Carlisle School. The Chicago car owner Mr. Cershbaun and the driver were taken to Sullivan by state police and released.

Indianapolis broadcast outlines a National Youth Administration forum on December 16 at 9 30 p m featuring Robert K Salyers S Burns Weston and Robert S Richey to present a three state view of youth problems in Ohio Kentucky and Indiana and project a national picture The program aims to compare industrial rural and mixed conditions and will be carried by WFBM with the three states hosting similar future broadcasts.
Linton High School hosts the Jasonville Yellow Jackets this Friday after working on goal shooting and foul shooting following a loss to Vincennes Allies. Rube Small of B street northwest attended the funeral of his sister Mrs. Lucretia Allen near Terre Haute. Allen, born in Daviess county eighty years ago, moved to near Terre Haute and was aunt to Mrs. Arthur H. Greenwood of Washington, formerly of Linton.
Gerald Graves of Bloomfield was taken to his home this morning. Hubert Hudson was moved to his home near this city. Mrs. Roy Ellis and her infant son were brought home today. A baby boy born Tuesday afternoon to Mrs. H. C. Anchutz of Worthington. Mother and baby are satisfactory.
Pittsburgh December 15 SWOC delegates authorize executive officers to negotiate new steel industry wage agreements. They urge immediate federal funding of one billion dollars to sustain relief work through June 380 and approve a plan for a six hour day and a 30 hour work week with no wage cuts and a guaranteed minimum wage.
Stewart Wright of Linton filed in Greene circuit court a $1000 damages suit against the city of Linton, its mayor E V Bull and Police Chief Dan Scully alleging officials killed his bird dog Tobe in official capacity. The defendants will contest the charge.
The House Judiciary Committee, after a secret hour meeting, decided not to hold hearings on Rep. Louis Ludlow’s proposed constitutional amendment for a popular referendum before war. Ludlow’s discharge petition, signed by 218 House members, automatically calls for a vote on January 10 at the next session.
Speaker William B. Bankhead predicted the wage hour bill would not be recommitted to committee. He said night sessions of the house may be held to advance action this week. The bill was read for amendments as Majority Leader Sam Rayburn pledged to speed action and hinted at a Saturday session if needed.

Globe trotting Dr. Ogden King, a freshman at Texas Technological College in its opening year and a member of its first graduating class, returned this term to visit his 59 year old father, now a business administrator student at the college.
Vandals splashed a jar of stained fluid at pickets outside a Cleveland restaurant forcing diners to flee their evening meals. The incident disrupted a strike scene and prompted a police response.
An authoritative Bloomfield source reports subpoenas issued to witnesses including three county Board of Commissioners members and two state examiners. The six jurors are Earl Ellis foreman, Baxter Bare, Fred Bledsoe, Maurice C Shepherd, Ralph Bogard, and James B Smith. The grand jury will inquire into jail holds, bail cases, official misconduct, prisons and poor houses, and general criminal law violations.
Two Lyons boys Lowell Jeffers and Kenneth Brown built an aero sled with a motor cycle engine and wooden propeller. A skate loosened during a sharp turn, the sled tumbled, the propeller flew free, but both youths escaped serious harm with Jeffers suffering a bruised elbow. they planned to rebuild.
Ed ward Schlegel of East Toledo was fishing on Long Lake near West Branch when a 28 inch great northern pike leaped from the water and landed in his boat while he was drawing a bluegill aboard. The pike and bluegill were kept by Schlegel.
Surviving witnesses describe a Japanese air raid that fatally struck the Panay and damaged the Standard Oil ships Meiping and others. The Panay crew fought on with machine guns before abandoning ship as it sank, while U S officials demand clear satisfaction from Japan.
David A. Bedwell 81, longtime Lyons resident, died at 2 30 pm Monday at his home near Glendora Sullivan County after months of illness. Survived by wife Mary, three daughters Ad die Holmes Ada Gilmore of Sullivan area and Ethel Chapman of Minnesota, twin brother Henry A. Bedwell of Lyons, sister Elizabeth Hiatt of Glendora. Funeral 2 pm Thursday at Billman chapel Sullivan. burial Center Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Bertha Taylor fell on the ice near her home at Fifth and D streets northeast and broke her ankle. A neighbor helped and a doctor was summoned to treat the injury.
