An appeal from the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association urges veterans and relatives to join a national network. It seeks survivors from all services who were on Oahu or within three miles of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, for the 25th anniversary reunion in Honolulu.
UPI reports Rep. Richard Roudebush of Indiana warned at Ball State University and Tipton that President Johnson's proposed 20 billion dollar next year's anti poverty program would fuel inflation and turn local governments into beggars dependent on Washington. He said the nation risks welfare statism and discounts free enterprise.
AFL-CIO Executive Council, facing turnover, urged larger wage gains and a higher federal minimum wage at the 10th anniversary convention. George Meany dismissed poverty labels for $3,000 yearly families and pushed for at least $2 an hour. The report argues buying power lags productivity and calls for faster wage growth next year.

Prime Minister Ian Smith announced a nationwide plan to deport alien workers to free jobs for Rhodesians amid British sanctions. He said nearly 500,000 Africans, including 200,600 Malawians, 69,740 Zambians, and 117,620 from Mozambique and Angola, could be affected as Malawi and Zambia must prepay in foreign currency for Rhodesia goods. Smith rejected any peace overtures from London and warned repatriation would proceed to avoid hardship, while Malawi and Zambia face currency pressure.
The basic data committee chaired by William Tubby of the Linton Planning Commission met at the Linton Public Library Tuesday night to review the base map. Robert Hunter was arrested at 5:05 p.m. on Route 1 in Jasonville after a crash with a parked school bus on Shanklin Street. He faced charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving. No injuries were reported. the bus was empty. State Trooper Gene Gastineau investigated.
Paris based report says President Charles de Gaulle will run in the December 19 run off against leftist Francois Mitter and will campaign intensely for another seven year term. Information Minister Alain Peyrefitte announced the decision after a cabinet meeting. De Gaulle informed the cabinet at a brief session. Sources expect the General to win handily.
