Mrs Charles Robertson Tostess hosted the Ladies of the Elks for a bridge tea at the Elk club with Mesdames Corbin Duncan and Bennett as testesses. High score prizes went to Mrs Corbin, second to Mrs Johnnial, consolation to Mrs Flanagan. Nearby guest Mrs W Wal king attended.
James Strahle was surprised at home on Wednesday evening with a party honoring his sixteenth birth anniversary. Games and contests were main diversions. refreshments included fiat stud, angel food cake, and hot chocolate for guests such as Sarawell Strane, Maxine Shaw, Colbert, Mildred Morrison, Norwood Carl isle, UShe and Dad Dowblémon, Leever, Philip Barnard, Vincent Singer, James Meurer, and the Strahle family with the guest of honor.
Mrs Harry Slinkard hosted Ladies Fancywork Circle I on Wednesday afternoon. Needlework was followed by a short business session and two contests with prizes won by Mrs F E Meng and Mrs F O Turpin. Mrs P F Meng to host Christmas party December 18. charity basket donations requested. A chinty plate lunch was served to Mesdames Gooper Turpin Hucott Meng, Fritz Newman Warner Hixson Talbott Robertson Anderson.
The Indianola club met at Mrs. Griss Myers home on A street northwest for an all day meeting and covered dish lunch. Eight members and three guests attended including Lem Clark of Bloomfield and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Goodman. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. George Wedrick and Mrs. Lem Clark. The group planned a Christmas party with Mrs. James Priest in two weeks. CHURCH OF GOD services listed with Sunday school morning worship and youth meeting.
Mrs Glenn Smith hosted the Bide A Wee club Friday afternoon. After a brief meeting, members played several rounds of Coolie with prizes for high scores awarded to Mrs Clyde Grass, Mrs Roscoe Dodd, Mrs Carl Roach, and Mrs Arthur Harbin. A penny drill winner was Mrs Carl Donie. Guests were served a festive supper and left with miniature chocolate Santa Clauses. The group will meet in two weeks with Mrs Stewart Wright.
Mrs. Clarence Goodwin entertained Wednesday evening at her Goodwin home, 820 Fourth Street Northeast, with a party in honor of Barbara Goodwin's seventh birthday. Games and contests followed by refreshments. guests included Donald Pope, Shirley Harl Osborn, Billie Roll, Sue Clark, Norma and Jack Strong, and others.
A surprise birthday party honored Billy Lee Ferguson on his tenth birthday held Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ferguson on HH street northeast. Gloria Jane Rice won a prize. guests included many local residents and family, with Mrs. Ferguson assisted by Miss Helen Dean.
Cast of the play Two Thousand Miles for a Book hosted a party at Nola Yoder community house in Glenbari. Mrs. Bruce Tate and Miss Lelia Boyd led impromptu readings and lively games. Mr Andrew Smith of Columbus Indiana reports no need for medicine after using Indo-Vin months ago. He says his bowels were sluggish and required laxatives before, but the medicine now gives them a strong, normal action. It has been over eight months since he took it and he continues to feel better. The medicine is sold in Linton at Hamilton Drug Store and by leading druggists regionally.
Francisco Largo Caballero, former labor minister and Spanish Socialist leader, is placed on trial in Madrid accused of instigating the October 1934 revolt against the government. Caballero repudiates the charges claiming his doctrine seeks racial revolution by evolution not violence, while the government consolidates control over opposition leaders.
Springfield Ohio orchestra leader Frank Morelli recounted his kidnapping and release by two bandits after a holdup at Franklin. A third bandit was killed and a wounded associate, Meoshal Waliaff Graham, while Morelli was the fifth abductee in a spree that included two women. The duo fled with cash, later killed at the scene by Marshal Graham upon entry to the bank.
