In Washington Indiana Mayor John W McCarty presided as judge in a police court after William Allen, accused of assaulting Bryan Banta in a car collision, defied arrest. Allen fought officers, knocked Greenwall to the floor, breaking six teeth, and the mayor joined the melee, striking Allen with a heavy vase.
