Mrs Leona Curry 75 a lifelong Oaktown resident died Friday night at her home after a stroke suffered Tuesday. She was mother of the late Joe Curry of Linton and grandmother of Joan Curry of Linton who was with her at death. Joan pursues nursing training in Indianapolis. Funeral services set for Sunday afternoon in Oaktown.
Plans outline Greene County events to be held December 13 and 14 in Worthington. The corn show and corn school feature 86 prizes from $4 upward, with Purdue agronomist M. O. Pence to teach at the church. Exhibits due by 12 M Tuesday, and a corn growers banquet is planned for December 13.
United States Attorney Lamar Hardy said four Nazi spies, including a U S Army deserter, have barely scratched the surface of espionage in the United States. Judge Knox warned that treason in this country carries severe punishment. In Berlin, Bruno Trojaner and Berthold Koehne were beheaded for espionage treason, Trojaner as a deserter and Koehne for taking money to pass military secrets.
Funeral services for Earl Sanders aged 58, brother of Everet Sanders former secretary to Calvin Coolidge and former U S Republican chairman, will be at Friendly Grove church at 11 Sunday. He died Friday at his Coalmont home. Survived by widow Ola, three sons John Ralph William, five daughters Myre Cochran Ruth Liston Lois Moyer Jannie Seipman Laura, one sister Jennie Love, and three brothers Everett Ernest and Rev Bert Sanders.
A Greene county report shows $71.37 raised in the first days of the Christmas seal sale by the county anti-Tuberculosis association. City receipts include Bloomfield 29.05 Deans 1 Jasonville 15 Linton 11.12 Mineral 1 Newberry 1.50 Switz City 2 Worthington 9.10. Seals were delayed reaching Linton residents, and organizers urge public cooperation as the drive continues until Christmas. The committee notes the proceeds support tuberculin testing and related health work, with more reports expected.
Funeral services for 83 year old Wylie H. Miller a well known resident of near Dugger will be held at 2 oclock Sunday afternoon at the Antioch Church of Christ with Rev. Paul Neal officiating Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery
Salt Lake City reports a snowstorm crash when a speeding freight train hit a school bus, killing 22 children and their driver. Investigations at the crossing 14 miles south continue as six services are planned for Bluffdale Riverton and South Jordan sites, with 11 more funerals at Riverton tomorrow.
C. D. Plummer pastor of the United Brethren church will be unable to fill his appointment here tomorrow. The Young People’s service will be held next Sunday on the second Sunday of the month instead of the first.

Local residents were urged to complete and return questionnaires for the Linton industrial survey by December 8. The study, led by E W Martsolf and the Martsolf Industrial Foundation, aims to map Linton's economic structure and attract new industries. In a bumper Friday night of net sport in the Wabash Valley many upsets occurred. Switz City was humbled as Jasonville won in their first start of the year. Brazil lost to Sullivan, Lyons beat Spencer, Solsberry defeated Bloomfield, and several other games were played across the region.
Gallion and Cahal led Jasonville high Yellow Jackets to a 24 19 victory over Switz City Midgets on their floor. After trailing 6 0 early the Jackets built a 10 6 halftime lead before pulling ahead 20 16 in the third quarter. Debut of Coach Jerry Wakefield signals a strong season ahead for Wright township team.
Lyons high Lions defeated the Spencer Cops 21 points on Lyons floor. At halftime the Lyons led 15 to 9 with Johnson as forward and Jeffers as guard the top scorers for Lyons while Payton led Spencer Cops in scoring.
Sullivan and Brazil fought to a 27 all deadlock, then the Golden Arrows won 29 to 27 in overtime. Sullivan led 8 5 after one period and 13 12 at halftime as Heffeditz and Martin scored late to clinch the victory.
Bloomfield controlled the game from start to finish winning 51-23 over Solsberry. The Cards led 13-9 after one period, 24-13 at halftime, and 35-26 after three quarters with Cook and Workman leading scorers.
The Marco highs defeated New Lebanon by 34 to 14 on New Lebanon's floor. Marco's Shake led scoring while New Lebanon trailed 14 to 8 at halftime.
Pleasantville high school defeated Merom high school 22 to 21 on Merom floor. Merom forward Hunt suffered a fractured leg during a fall while pursuing a basket. Mitchell led the winners with top scoring honors.
The Switz City Independents routed the Solsberry Wildcats 56 to 19 in a Thursday night game at Switz City. The home team dominated with strong defense and quick transition plays to secure the victory.
Mrs. Frank Jones of Salsbury route 1 was admitted for treatment. Mrs. Clee Lehman of Linton rural route was taken home Friday afternoon.
