Centerline marker plan for four-lane U.S. 81 in Indiana
Indiana plans a highway safety experiment on a 40 foot four-lane stretch of U S Highway 81 from South Hend to the Michigan line. James D Adams, chairman of the Indiana Highway Commission, says bids will be received for installing four marker types to separate opposing traffic and create a bump sensation when crossed. If successful, similar installations may expand to other four-lane highways in the state.
