On August 7 in Indianapolis cattle prices rose slightly with 8,000 hops and 1,800 cattle. Early steer bids remained steady while underweights and heavies shifted higher. cows and cutters showed mixed moves. Sheep and lamb receipts totaled 1,500 and 25 to 80 head declined, with better ewe and wetter lambs around 8 dollars.
Indiana state police will receive a new compensation plan offering monthly payments up to 5000 for officers injured on duty, after approval by the state police board. The reorganization act allocates 410,000 yearly to a fund that can accumulate to 50,000 before ceasing, and death benefits are not approved due to state law.
