Drowning Narrowly Averted on White River Near Bloomfield
A drowning incident on the White River near the covered bridge south of Bloomfield was narrowly thwarted yesterday afternoon. Leonard Davenport, a Linton youth and Clarion club member, jumped in to save Miss Helen Bechtel as she sank, while others in a boat rescued Mr Henderson who drifted downstream unconscious. Both were revived and survived. Bechtel recovered by afternoon, Henderson returned home. Later, Claude Poe rescued a camping party child who toppled into White River near Newberry station.

Oil Drilling to Begin Soon in Goose Pond Field

Plane crash kills two men during takeoff near Plainfield
Plainfield New Jersey August 6 Gustave Staiger eighty of the Bronx and Colingswood Harris of Crawford New Jersey were killed instantly when a No 10 Waco plane taking off from Hadley Air Field plummeted from about a thousand feet.
