Baptist Sunday school members and families gathered in Linton City Park for a well planned picnic with a full afternoon program of races and games amid chilly weather. A basket supper followed at 6:30 under the trees and more activities continued into the evening.
Numerous residents and visitors travel through Indiana towns. Ripp McMillon left a note on a Florida tour while Eva Clarke visits Linton from Terre Haute and Matilda Morgan visits Bicknell.
Mrs Allie Myers entertained Wanetta Society members at her home with a mixed contest won by Lola Eckele and prizes of a cut glass bowl. Mrs Fahny Cody presided, minutes approved, and refreshments served for five guests including Mrs Marie Campbell and Mary McCallister. Next meeting set with Mrs Lillie Nance to observe guest day.
Mrs Hebhert Fothes and her son William Franklin are spending the day in Vincennes.
The Lisman family from Sullivan and Greene counties plans the annual reunion at City Park tomorrow. Last year the gathering was split between the local park and City Park and attendees voted to return to the same place this year. City Park is noted as a popular spot for family events and picnics.
The Robinson circus will not stop at Linton on the scheduled September 1 date. It will move from Bedford to Bloomington and then proceed directly to Vincennes, skipping Linton on August 31.
Bedford marks its hundredth anniversary with a fall centennial observance. The community known as the Stone City has formed a planning group to ensure a fitting celebration honoring 100 years of local history and achievement.
