In Frackville Pennsylvania 27 year old Charles Klevis shot his sister in law and niece then held his mother hostage for three hours. State police intervened exchanging fire and disarming him after a neighbor wrested away the pistol.
Thomas K. Holden of the Linton Moose lodge state sergeant at arms will attend the spring state officers meeting of the Indiana Moose association in Valparaiso Friday and Saturday. Sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday include a noon luncheon for officers and their wives. State President Alvin Shank of South Bend leads. Friday night a honorary initiation features the Goshen degree staff and the Valparaiso drill team.
Admissions include Charles Ballance of Oaktown Edward Jackson of Bloomfield and Mrs James Moody of Lyons who gave birth to a son James Douglas. Also Mrs Raymond Rader of Switz City welcomed a son Mark Keith. An 11 year old boy from near Winamac Indiana defied his mother's warning and went hunting pigeons after school with a .21 caliber rifle. He collapsed from a chest wound about a half hour later and died at a Winamac hospital.

Martinsville, Ind. Virgil L. Wuertley age 49 died Tuesday night from neck injuries after being shocked and knocked from a ladder while repairing home electrical wiring. He passed away while awaiting admission to Martinsville Hospital where a friend rushed him for care.
A volatile weather day dusted the West with winds, dust, and near 90 degree heat, while snow piled up to five inches in Salt Lake City. Oklahoma reports tornadoes near Shawnee and several funnels, with hail the size of eggs and lemons in Cordell and Wichita Falls.
Police search for a group of youths who burned paddles and furniture at Edgar Greene’s cabin a mile south of Linton on state road 59. They set a fire near the cabin, damaged two paddles, removed a table and chair for fuel, destroyed two new trees, and scattered bricks from a pile planned for a furnace around the pond. The incident occurred Monday or Tuesday night near a pond east of Greene’s home.
