Five Are Injured in Mishap North of Spencer

Miss Mary Evelyn Pigg of Linton and Eugene Brannon of Bloomfield were among five people injured Friday night in a collision five miles north of Spencer at the junction of state roads 67 and 43. James Mollet of Anderson was critically hurt with a broken back.

Soldier Nathan T. Morgan Receives Bronze Star

T Sgt Nathan T Morgan stationed in Boston was presented with the Bronze Star by Major General Frank A Keating for exemplary conduct in ground combat in the Naples Foggia sector of Italy in 1944. He is a son of Mrs Ira Halte of Linton Indiana RFD No 3.

Train wreck near Adamsville claims two lives and injures thirty

A Miami to Chicago Sunchaser train left the rails on a 100 foot cliff near Adamsville Alabama. Engineer James B Booth died in the wreck while Emma Dahnke of Chicago survived. Twenty seven young baseball players from a Florida camp helped rescue the injured. Six to eight are in serious condition. The wreck occurred on the Illinois Central line between Birmingham and Memphis.

Community Chest Seeks Reorganization at City Hall

A second meeting at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall aims to form a new Community Chest organization separate from the Greater Linton club. Bob McFadden presides, with Rev. Mrs. Ellen Schloot 86 Dies After Illness

Mrs. Ellen Schloot 86 lifelong Linton resident died at Freeman Greene County Hospital after a three year illness. Born Aug 16 1861 she was wife of Herman Schloot who died March 4 1938. Survived by three daughters two sisters and multiple grandchildren. Funeral at Saron church Tuesday 2 pm with Rev H Raymon Voss officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Newberry Child Injured by Car

Clyde Jones four year old son of Mr and Mrs Elvis Jones of Newberry was injured when a car rolled down an incline after an older brother removed a prop. He suffered a fractured left shoulder and cuts but his condition was not serious and he was treated at Freeman Greene County Hospital.
