Fred Jerauld 81 retired painter and interior decorator died at 12:45 Sunday at his home 59 Seventh Street NE after seven years of declining health and illness since April 2. Born January 16, 1871 in Wellsville Missouri he lived in Linton since 1888 and was a member of the Linton Knights of Pythias. Survived by widow Grace Palmer Jerauld and cousins Mrs. Clarence Gillett and Mrs. Lillian Noell. Funeral 1:00 Tuesday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home with Rev. W. R. Lynch, burial Wal Nut Hill cemetery Petersburg.

Scouts Camp Theft Probed Near Linton
Linton police search for thieves who stole a coal cookstove from a Linton Boy Scout camp cabin north of town. In addition to the stove, the culprits pried an icebox door, broke a window and a door, and took light bulbs. Police could not determine the burglary time as the camp road was recently repaired after being impassable.

Mystery fires roll through city streets
The Linton Fire department responded to two small blazes deemed mysteries. At 11 30 Sunday they found boards on a garage side at 440 Fourth Street Northwest with minor damage. Earlier at noon Saturday a fire in a pickup truck bed scorched the bed boards after two pounds of oleo caught fire.

Former Lyons Man Dies at 73 in Vincennes Hospital
Fred L. Stalcup, 73, of Bicknell and former Lyons resident, died Saturday at Good Samaritan Hospital Vincennes after a yearlong illness. Born February 23, 1879 in Lyons, he was a retired mine bookkeeper and weigh boss and a member of Lyons Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include a stepmother, siblings, and half-siblings. Funeral services set for Tuesday at Poindexter and Wampler Funeral Home Bicknell with burial in Prairie Chapel Cemetery near Lyons.
