Legion Open House At New North Main Post Home

Linton American Legion post invites public to view their new headquarters at 6842 North Main Street with an open house Saturday night from 8 to midnight. Mal Smith and his four piece Bedford orchestra will provide music for dancing in the remodeled auditorium. Divorce Granted and New Suit Filed in Greene Circuit Court

Elaine Dyer was granted a divorce from Guy Dyer Jr and her maiden name Elaine Bunch was restored. A new suit filed by Clyde Stewart and Lelia Stewart against the estate of Lovell H. Sinclair seeks services. A jury awarded Robert Mitchell $500 against the Alonzo Mitchell estate for care of Alonzo Mitchell.

Benefit card party planned by Greene County hospital guild

Plans for a benefit card party sponsored by the Greene County hospital guild are under way. An advance ticket sale is in progress for April 30 at 7 30 p m at the local Elks Home. Proceeds will fund nursery improvements at Freeman Greene County hospital. Bridge and euchre will be played. both men and women are invited. Public urged to buy tickets promptly to help prize arrangements.

Manhunt staged in Indiana today

Police in two states hunted a man and a woman accused of attempting to kill a Dowagiac taxi driver. Walter Hill fought off the slaying plan near a South Bend cemetery after a gun was forced from the assailant. He broke the shotgun and the pair fled toward Buchanan, Michigan in a cream colored Fletcher Cab taxi.

Horace W. Tobe Robertson died in Freeman Greene County Hospital at 7 45 p m after a period of ill health since February 1 He was born in Salem September 15 1864 and lived in Linton sixty years He worked with Robertson Coal Co and owned mines Pee Wee Big Four No 1 No 2 Cherry Hill lene and Vicksburg He leaves a widow six children eight grandchildren and two sisters Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 pm at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery and Masonic graveside rites.

Hands and foot found along Indiana creek

Two severed human limbs, a woman's hands and a foot, were found on a creek bank in Lebanon Indiana. Sheriff Frank McCormick said the hands were bloody and likely severed within 24 hours. A black 1941 Oldsmobile sedan was reported leaving the scene after two men started a brush fire nearby.

Terre Haute Man Dies in Accident Near Brazil

Fred Roseberry, 48, of Terre Haute Indiana, was found dead in a wrecked car on a country road ten miles south of Brazil. Sheriff Maurice Tilley said he likely died in the night when the car went into a ditch. Roseberry had formerly lived in Gary.
