Two Terre Haute Rum Havens Padlocked After Court

Terre Haute April 6. Federal Judge Robert C. Baltzell adjourned the spring term after sentencing liquor law violators. He ordered padlocking of two former taverns while four more could stay open only if not rented to restaurant or soft drink parlor operators. Dennis Shea received seven months in jail and a $500 fine for sale of liquor and creating a nuisance. a second offense case was continued with a possible five year penitentiary term and a $2000 fine if brought before the court again.

Indiana State Business Directory Begun by Polk Co

United Press Dispatch reports Indianapolis April 6 that R L Polk Co begins work on Indiana’s first state business directory since 1916. The volume will cover business interests services professions and manufactured products with descriptive sketches of every city town and village and data on local advantages. Experts will visit every community to compile the directory.
