Union sentiment outlined by Pennsylvania convention
The Pennsylvania Union State Convention met in Harrisburg on March 7, with John Covode elected president and Gen. Juan W. Geany nominated for governor. The platform urged Congress to determine admit tal orders for the former Confederate states and warned against rapid restoration before assessing political conditions. The report also notes civil rights, freedmen schooling, and various political remarks from the period.
