Memorial services for Pfc John C Bridges Saturday
Memorial services for Private First Class John Caldwell Bridges drowned in the African area were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist church. The service honored Bridges, a Fort Bragg-based member of Co G 47th Infantry, with flag presented to his mother by Col Warren A Fair. Bridges enlisted in October 1940 and is survived by his mother, brothers Joseph and Richard, and three sisters. He is the second Lincoln County casualty after Lieut Victor Norman Fair.

Lincoln County Cotton Quotas Vote Set for December 12
Cotton farmers in Lincoln County face a December 12 ballot on continuing cotton marketing quotas for another year. State Board of Elections ordered Watauga County to discard all fraudulent and invalid ballots from the November 3 general election.
