Raleigh August 28 North Carolina 1947 automobile license tags will feature orange backgrounds with black lettering. Tags go on sale December 1 after production began at Central Prison. A steel shortage will limit tags to one per car, down from two before the war.

City Schools Hire New Assistant Coach and Add Faculty
Superintendent S. Ray Lowder announced A. M. Troiano of Shelby will join Lincolnton High School as assistant athletic coach and physical education instructor. Mary Johnson of Chesnee joins the faculty filling two vacancies. Troiano, a Lenoir Rhyne graduate, coached in Fallston and Shelby and served in the Navy in World War I. Open the school year September 4 with a faculty meeting September 3 at 10 in the high school auditorium. opening day focuses on registration.
