Davis will leave by October 1 as offices are opened on the second floor of the First National Bank Building. Craig leads Lola Mills, Stanley Supply, and Gaston Dye Machinery Works and plans to relocate. Davis expresses gratitude and will remain in Lincolnton along with his wife. The Lincolnton Chamber of Commerce board approved 13 sanitary measures including connecting houses within 200 feet of the sewer line, stricter outside toilet standards, more garbage collection, cleaned main streets, testing milk and ice cream, and a municipal abattoir. Lightning sparked a blaze that gutted the Mount Holly News Belmont Banner and Mecklenberg Times printing plant, owned by B Arp Lowrance interests of Charlotte. Loss estimated at 15 000 to 18 000 with damage to stock and building undetermined. The plant printed three weekly papers and housed major presses.
