Local National Farm Loan Association Joins Charlotte Group

The Lincolnton National Farm Loan Association joins Mecklenburg Cabarrus Gaston counties to form a central Charlotte headquarters at 105 Court Arcade. John F. Gaylord becomes secretary treasurer. Lincolnton’s J. Robert McNeely remains in charge locally. Approximately 1100 farmers across four counties have loans via the Federal Land Bank at Columbia through the six associations.

Russian artist Dey Ribocowsky found dead in Santa Monica

Santa Monica on August 18 reported the death of 56 year old Russian artist Dey Ribocowsky found in his hotel room. Doctors attributed the death to a heart attack. Ribocowsky painted Old Ironsides which supported the drive to preserve the ship.

Boy 6 Dragged From River By Stranger Selfless Rescue

Six year old Jack Smith fought the current in the Scioto River as onlookers urged him to surface. Seventeen year old James Poston calmly entered the water and pulled him ashore then carried him up the bank, saying he was hunting a lost penny with his feet. A policeman gave the boy a nickel.

Mrs. Robert Lynch Dies at 74 Near Long Shoals

Mrs. Robert Lynch aged 74 died early Wednesday at her home near Long Shoals. She is survived by seven children. Funeral services will be held at Pisgah Baptist church this afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment in the church cemetery.

Col. Frank Knox, Republican vice presidential nominee, told the United Retail Merchants Association in Hagerstown that the nation needs fewer laws and simpler government. Five Hurt In Lincolnton-Maiden Auto Collision

Five people were injured in a morning crash on the Lincolnton Maiden highway near St Matthews Reformed Church. The Neel family from Fayetteville North Carolina plus Hattie Lee Farries of Rock Hill and George Powell of Lincolnton were treated at Lincoln hospital with expected recoveries. Powell reportedly fled then was said to be at home with injuries. Police noted the Powell car carried over one hundred gallons of whiskey, much of which spilled along the road.

Ralph Gilbert 13 Loses Arm In Bus Collision

Ralph Gilbert aged 13 had his left arm amputated above the elbow after a car struck a North Brook No 1 school bus yesterday afternoon. The vehicle driven by Guy Brown allegedly tried to pass the bus causing the impact. Ralph was treated at Lincoln hospital and is reported doing nicely. He lives with his grandparents Mr and Mrs H F Royster of Cherryville after his mother died in infancy.
