Goldsboro Aug 15 A site near Durham between Durham and Chapel Hill was approved for the Spastics School authorized by the last legislature. The board of control for the school approved plans and a budget for construction operation and maintenance. The site remains private but Senator Thomas O Berry said the state accepted it. The proposed state owned institution would be the first of its kind in the nation with fifty beds and space for fifty out-patient patients.

Rent Overcharge Brings Fine and Term in Columbia
Raleigh reports that Annie Mary Timmons, a Columbia apartment operator, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge George Bell Timmerman to nine months in prison and a $1,000 fine for violating rent regulations. She had faced multiple charges for collecting excessive rents from servicemen and others and was found in criminal contempt for breaking an injunction. A prior case had yielded a suspended three month sentence and a $300 fine. The motion for suspension in the present case was denied.
