The All-Stars will host Cramerton Mills in a benefit game at the high school field tomorrow night. The event follows a VFW post meeting that added twelve new members and set plans for housing and ticket committees.
Miss Frances Bandy of Lincolnton graduates from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in an accelerated war era program. She is active on campus, majoring in sociology, and plans to work as a case worker with the Baptist Orphanage in Thomasville after a vacation.
Washington reports official census estimates show the United States crossed 141 million population in July. Money in circulation rose by 802,670 to 26.2458 billion, while population growth reduced per capita money to 200.17 dollars.
In Hayward California burglars hit the Willstrot Hosiery Mills and grabbed two thousand pairs of nylons, but notably only the grade A stock. All second and third grade nylons were left untouched, indicating selective taste in the caper.

Harold Hut Powell 26 a Valdese textile worker identified by wife and two brothers after his body was found beneath pine boughs on a farm near Cherryville. Investigators noted a T shirt with A L initials a Texas Longhorn belt buckle and an army field jacket as key clues. Powell had left Valdese three months earlier on a motorcycle. authorities suspect homicide though formal proof awaits medical examiner findings. Powell is survived by wife Gladys Glazebrook and two children, Sharon and Jerry.
A church member donated a modern motion picture projector to the Presbyterian Church to support audio visual religious education. The first formal show, The Power of God, drew many attendees and impressed that film can reach people previously untouched by religion.
Elizabeth New Jersey August 13 Jay Jones slept on the second story porch at 215 S Second Street woke on the lawn 20 feet below He brushed himself off and said the fall did not hurt him.

Rev Boston M Lackey Jr son of Rev Boston M Lackey Sr of Lenoir will assume duties as pastor of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby on September 1. He is UNC Class of 1942 graduate and is at Waterbury Connecticut taking a summer course. His father pastors in Lenoir.
Attorney C R Jonas spoke to the Rotary Club on Tuesday about North Carolina laws on divorces partnerships and corporations. Rotarian Ed Little led the program with Everett Henley assisting in his absence. New member Carmen Greer was introduced by Frank Chamberlain as he received Rotary pins while S Ray Lawler chaired the meeting. Visitors included Rev Henry S Robinson Bill McNeill Bill Conn C M Moore and Charlie Bryant and R G Crowell.
The Executive Committee of the Lincolnton Chamber of Commerce will meet Friday afternoon August 16 at 3 o'clock in the Chamber office in the courthouse. All department chairmen are urged to be present.
The Hull reunion is scheduled for August 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Black. All friends and relatives are invited to attend and bring a basket lunch.
Fifteen players from Long Shoals High Shoals and Boger City will form the local all star team to oppose Cramerton in a Veterans of Foreign Wars benefit game at Lincolnton high school field Friday night. Game time is 8. The lineup includes managers and coaches from Long Shoals High Shoals Boger City and High Shoals with notable pitchers John Stamey Bain Sisk Ralph Connor Kelly Smith and Dave Robinson.
Ten Lincoln County residents will attend the thirty ninth Farm and Home Week at State College Raleigh in August 1923. Mrs A L Blanton of Lincolnton Route 3 will represent local home demonstration clubs. Daily programs cover timely topics and the event marks the first gathering since the war. On August 22 the North Carolina Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs meets under the theme Todays Vision Tomorrow's Reality with Mrs Loy Howard of Lincoln County as recording secretary.

M M Shepherd, manager of the Duplan mill, says wage increases stem from higher output per worker aided by new equipment. Company sales grew from 12 million to over 21 million dollars with more production per employee, keeping plants up to date and maintaining jobs.
