He was born November 1 1890 in Hickory and practiced dentistry in Liberty South Carolina. He served as assistant deputy marshal under U S Marshal Charles Price in Asheville.

Asheville July 31 Craig Styles jailed on a larceny charge cut his arms with a sharpened belt buckle in a death by own action attempt. Hours later he tried to hang himself with knotted clothes but officers intervened. He was sentenced in court to four months for attempting death by own action.
