Col Miller brother of Mrs. T. Wo He man dies at his father Gen Madison Miller’s residence in St Louis after a long illness. Born March 1 1843 in St Louis he was just over 46 years old. He served with distinction in the late war enlisting in the Est Mo Artillery in 1861 rising to second lieutenant and captain in the Isth Mo Tatantry. He recently received a staff appointment from Gov Thos Fletcher. He had spent months at White Oaks and was deeply attached to his sister Mrs Henn. His cheerful nature and strong will marked his final hours as he faced death with courage and calm.
Samuel Bene died at Prescott Kansas after years of illness. He was born in Virginia and raised in Ohio. He moved to Kansas in 1877, leaving behind a large family including three sons and two daughters all but one married. A quiet, loving father and progenitor, his death brings deep grieving to his children.
