The Post-office Department release shows fiscal year results ended June 30, 1690. First and Assistant Postmaster General offices reported 23 261 total transactions in the appointment division, averaging about 2 400 monthly or 50 daily. Fourth class offices logged 9 056 appointments due to resignations, 990 due to removals, and 688 due to postmaster deaths. Presidential offices recorded 25 percent resignations, 579 expirations, 554 removals, 31 deaths, and 153 becoming Presidential.
