Basketball Card at School Here Affords Fun and Helps Theatre

Elementary boys basketball games opened the Lime Theatre benefit event Saturday night. Crowds enjoyed a lively game where the Bonair Wildcats defeated the Lime Springs Dribblers 32 to 23. The program featured student players, cheerleaders, and bake sale proceeds topping $300 for the Lime Theatre. The Lime Springs and Chester Methodist Churches plan Lent services with a new audience-participation format, alternating locations. Russell Blomgren of Lime Springs was promoted to Specialist 4 in Korea and expected home in May. Tom Fretcher celebrated a February birthday, noted as a leap year occurrence.

Kindergarten Round-up In How Winn Centers Week in March

Parents of children five by September 15 1968 are invited to kindergarten round-up at Crestwood High School Lime Springs Elma Ridgeway and Cresco centers in March to enroll, meet teachers, and receive materials. Children attend a classroom visit while parents learn enrollment details and snacks are provided. There is no class held on the round-up day.

Mrs Earl Walker Burns From Gas Explosion in Kitchen

Mrs Earl Walker received burns to her hand and arm last Thursday around 4 p m when a gas explosion near her kitchen range blew out two first floor windows in the dining room and bedroom. She was treated by Dr Buresh. Also noted are names of Forest City Township delegates elected to the County Convention and township committeemen reelected. A separate note mentions a trip to Mason City for a United Nations meeting with Lime Springs involvement on March 21.

Legion Auxiliary to sponsor portable sick room equipment

The Howard County American Legion Auxiliary plans to distribute wheel chairs walkers crutches and hospital beds free of charge for temporary use across Howard County residents. Credentials will be shown by organizers and officers to explain the plan with contact details for securing equipment. A new venture in Christian fellowship is scheduled for Thursday March 7 at 8 p.m. in the United Lutheran Church in Chester. Five association members and others attend a Centennial Beand-Growers gathering. Notables include James Wit, 70, lifelong county resident born at Roward Center Two, and Buck Harold who has farmed near Lime Springs since childhood. Wit last grew beans 32 years ago, while Harold drives a rural school bus for Winn School District.
