Speed Wash opens Saturday July 2 in Lime Springs near the post office. The new coin operated laundry offers seven days of self service with multiple machines, automatic changers, soap vendors, and large wrinkle free dryers. Grand opening features free wash and dry service all day from 9 am to 5 pm with coffee and donuts.

Fire damages Lime Springs Texaco Station office
Fire damaged the Lime Springs Texaco Station office about 6 15 am last Thursday. Fire Chief Ben Davis and volunteers fought the blaze with water from the truck while heavy rain hampered efforts. Some office records survived, but furniture and merchandise were destroyed and the workshop was smoked. No cash was lost. Station attendant Lyle Schutte had just opened the business and was away briefly when the fire started. The cause is not known, but an electrical storm is suspected. Last Thursday morning saw 2.4 inches of rain with sheets of downpour flooding east and southeast Lime Springs. Basements flooded, Lidtke Park flooded, and a river trip by motor boat noted as possible only at high water. County roads damaged by washed culverts and gravel loss. further rain reported westward near McIntire with cornfields damaged and haying disrupted.
