Gladys Jones of Mankato Minnesota daughter of Mr and Mrs Stobert G Thomas died in hospital June 23 at age 29. Born August 28 1902 in Albion Township she taught in Lime Springs after Cresco High School and Teacher's College Mankato. She married Emrys Jones June 9 1927. Funeral services were held at the Kelly Johnset Bowman mortuary Mankato and Lime Springs Presbyterian Church with large attendance. Surviving are husband two daughters Catherine Elaine and Gladys Mary, her parents, a sister Gwen and a brother Albert.

Scrabecks Honored on 50th Anniversary
Mr and Mrs Sam Scrabeck celebrated their golden wedding on Sunday June 19 at the Swutheran church with close relatives and friends attending. Dinner and supper were served in church parlors and the couple’s daughter baked the wedding cake. Thirteen children were born to them with several grandchildren living nearby. Mrs Scrabeck, a Gold Star mother, attended the Gold Star convention and the local Memorial service, Harmony News reports.

County Convention Notices For July Meetings In Cresco Decorah West Union
County committees inform delegates elected at the recent primary that county conventions will convene in Cresco on Saturday July 2 to select delegates for state conventions and judicial districts. Republican proceedings occur at the Cresco Public Library with a separate Judicial convention in West Union on July 7. Democrats meet at the courthouse with a July 16 Decorah convention. The Republican state convention to nominate a candidate for State Auditor has not yet announced a date. The Howard County Times also reports a Band of Hope picnic at Old Town and a Civic Club meeting at Crown Park on Friday next, inviting members and families to attend with lunches.
