Elma Legionnaires Parade Draws Massive Mile-Long Display

Elma hosts a three day Legionnaires and Auxiliary event July 2 to 4 with a two mile parade at 2 pm Sunday. Thousands watched bands from Minneapolis to Preston march past, including 28 member Bear Cat Post Auxiliary Drum Corps and snow white horses. The next convention moves to Lake City in 1940.

Pheasant Distribution Planned Across County Farms

Cresco celebrated Cresco Assumption High graduate Miss Helen Coughlin winning the grand prize of $1000 in the 12th grade division of the Social Justice essay contest with the topic Foreign Entanglements Lead to War. Father of Mike McCarville Dies at Cresco

Funeral services for Phillip McCarville 83 were held at Assumption church Cresco with Rev John Brickley officiating. Burial in Calvary cemetery followed as Rev J A McMahon assisted. He died at home June 21 after an eight month illness from a stroke. Survivors include wife Elizabeth three children Raymond Julia and Mike plus seven grandchildren two brothers and two sisters. Local mourners and visitors attended from New Ulm Yankton Austin Charles City and Lime Springs.
