Lime Springs Dinner Celebrates Benefit Event with 1100 guests
The Lime Springs Recreation Benefit Celebration attracted many attendees from adjoining towns despite haying season. A 70 piece Crestwood high band performed while barbecue chicken, potatoes, pies, and coleslaw fed 1100 to 1200 people. Prizes drawn included a refrigerator freezer portable TV stereo hi fi and more. Civil Defense Self Medical Care course taught by nurses trained 21 residents to teach others with Elma starting a new session June 26.

Open House for Rev Benj Marek on Golden Anniversary
The Rev and Mrs Benjamin Marek observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday June 24. They were married May 1 1912 at Saratoga Presbyterian Church. A reception at the Fred Buresh farm followed a service at Saratoga Church. Family members from multiple states attended as guests. The Mareks received many congratulatory cards and gifts and planned a later family dinner.

Terrace Seminar July 3 On Albion Two Farms
A terrace seminar for farm owners and operators will be held July 3 at 1 30 p m on the Stanley Tuest and Henry Brenner farms in Albion Township. Representatives of the Soil Conservation Service will explain terrace practice and erosion control and take questions. The event benefits those needing hay or pasture in their cropping rotation, as terracing enables rotations not possible on hillsides.

Larry Bigalk Crowned In Pond Tragedy
Funeral services were held for Larry Dean Bigalk 13 of Cresco who drowned June 20 in a conservation pool northeast of Harmony Minnesota. He was visiting his uncle Howard Applen and disappeared while diving with cousin Roger Applen. He is survived by parents Delbert and unknown mother two brothers Manley and Terry and two sisters Ann and Gayleen. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
