Severely Disabled Should Know Of Social Security Opportunities
More than a hundred thousand severely disabled people nationwide will receive their first Social Security disability insurance checks in August. Elmer L. Iske, Mason City district manager, notes many eligible workers aged 50 to 65 have not yet applied. Those disabled for work long enough must apply before June 30 or lose rights to new benefits. People 50 to 65 may have their Social Security record frozen to protect future disability payments and their family's rights to old-age benefits.
