Cresco Iowa riders and residents are invited to a Fourth of July event at Cresco fair grounds. Two ball games feature Le Roy versus Lawler and Cresco versus Sovereign's Park with umpire Moppy Anderson. At 3:00 p.m. fifteen fast motorcycle races offer large cash prizes, Lime Springs band performs, and WLS Chicago artists entertain from 8:00 p.m. A fireworks display follows the evening show, with a dance floor and Checkerboard Band keeping the party going.

Local Lutherans Observe Pastor's Anniversary
St Pauls Lutheran congregation and neighbors gathered June 23 for the tenth anniversary of Rev Paul Lutz’s ordination. Club Boys Attend Conservation Tour in Iowa
A 4 H conservation tour organized by Howard County Farm Bureau and the Iowa Conservation Commission drew 40 club members on June 21 and 22. The group visited Sievert Springs Hatchery, Fort Atkinson Park, Backbone State Park, and farms in Winneshiek County to study soil, game, bird, and wildlife conservation, with coordination by M L Garden and Kennard Baer. The outing included a evening camp near Decorah with a Fort Atkinson history talk by Joe Huber.
