Crow Hunt Banquet Of Fried Chicken Planned At Cresco

A meeting of three wildlife groups in Lime Springs set plans for a crow hunt banquet in Cresco on June 24 at 9 p m Conservation Officer Kennard Baer and the Cresco Wildlife Club will prepare the dinner with Lime Springs handling the chicken proceeds from registration fees and crow bounties funding the event about 77 crow hunters from Saratoga Lime Springs and Cresco will attend Saratoga won the hunt with Lime Springs second and Cresco third.

Casnor Armstrong Pinning Tractor Incident In Chester

Casnor Armstrong of Chester was injured Monday evening when his tractor reared up and tipped over, pinning him beneath it for almost two hours before three men freed him and moved him to his house. He is reported to have returned from Cresca hospital with bruises and unclear injuries.

Evans Named Moderator of Minnesota Synod

Dr W H Evans was elected moderator of the Minnesota Synod of the Presbyterian Church in the U S A at the recent annual meetings. The Westminster Presbyterian Church of Lime Springs was honored by electing its pastor to the role. The Synod includes about 218 pastors and over 200 churches and Evans will serve the coming year through next June. This marks the first time a pastor from Iowa has held the post.

Evans Elected Moderator for Synod of Minnesota

The Lime Springs Church, part of the Presbytery of Blue Earth in the Synod of Minnesota, has elected Dr. Evans as Moderator. This high office is the Synod’s top distinction for its ministers, and both the pastor and church receive congratulations. The Herald joins the community in wishing Dr. Evans success during his term.

Bond sales rise in Howard County April investments

J Garmen, president of the Howard County Bankers association, reported Howard county April investments in U S savings bonds totaled 156,28300 and compared with 1946 April sales of 06,660.75. The 1947 county quota is 1,470,482 and four months into the year sales reached 599,83400.

Fourteen women from six townships gathered Wednesday afternoon June 11 to plan with Extension Home Supervisor Mable Phipps. They selected electric equipment, homework simplification, and youth needs as major phases for the new county farm life program geared toward rural homemakers over the coming year.

Experimental Farm Field Day planned for June 25

The Howard County Experimental Farm Field Day will occur Wednesday June 25 with a spraying demonstration and weed identification clinic led by H R Mel drum Ames and E P Sylvester ISCC.
