Neighbors Help Plant 95 Acres in Virgil Lewis Farm Work
Neighbors from Saratoga assisted the Virgil Lewis family on Friday and Saturday with 95 acres plowed and 40 acres planted in corn while starting soybeans. Local residents provided tractors, discs, plows, fertilizer, meals, and cooking staff to support the effort and Vernon Stockdale organized the event. Mr Lewis, recently visiting Des Moines Veterans Hospital for thyroid disorder treatment, is expected back in July for further care.

Anna Haslam Eggerichs Dies At 76 In Etna Area
Anna Haslam Eggerichs died June 8 1960 at 76 after a long Etna life. Born November 16 1883 in Bloomfield Township near Etna she attended Etna and Spring Valley schools. She married Harden Eggerichs August 10 1910 and lived on a farm near Etna for 45 years. Surviving son Dale Chester Iowa daughter Babina Kappers Etna and five grandchildren. She served as treasurer of the Etna Cemetery Board. Funeral Saturday at Cherry Grove Evangelical United Brethren Church with Rev R S Heitke. interment Etna Cemetery. Two Farm Youths In Tractor Mishaps Chronicle
Denelda Christian and Mike Heressi, both teens from Minnesota farms, were injured in separate tractor incidents Tuesday morning. Denelda, 13, was pinned by a leaking gasoline barrel during a disc pickup near Le Roy and rushed to hospital with possible back injuries and rib fractures. Mike, 17, suffered bruises after his tractor overturned into a ditch near Saratoga while en route to fetch a cultivator.
