Plane crash wipes out nine on sightseeing flight near Glenview
Nine people perished when a two motor plane crashed into a plowed field near Glenview during a sightseing trip. The craft, one wing crumpled, plunged from 200 feet and burst into flames, burning the bodies beyond recognition. Pilot Vickery, veteran with thousands of hours, steered toward land after a aborted lake landing, but the doomed craft went down in flames. Firefighters failed to save any aboard. Authorities and officials expect difficulty identifying the dead. several passengers may be from out of town.
