Shirley Ramaker Weds LeRoy Chelsvig in June 4 Ceremony

Shirley Ramaker and LeRoy Chelsvig married June 4 1947 at the Presbyterian parsonage in Le Roy Minnesota with Rev Blair officiating. The bride wore a white street length dress and aqua dress for her attendant both with rose and sweet pea corsages. After a candlelight supper the couple planned to live on a farm south of Riceville. The bride had taught in Howard County rural schools for two years.

Town Team Blank 4H Boys Sunday

Lime Springs town team crushed Forest City 4-H 12-0 on Sunday as Maron Barclay struck out 12 in four innings. Pete Munkel and Albert Larsen led Town at the plate with solid hitting while Ramon Gasser and Charles Morgan combined on the mound for the 4-H team relations. Herbert Jones umpired the game. Town next plays at Greenleaf Friday night.

The Lime Springs Band will meet for rehearsal Monday night and the first street concert of the season will be played next Wednesday night.

Howard County 4-H announces Rally Day at Cresco High School Little Theatre auditorium on Monday June 16. Registration starts 1 00 p m with project skits and county officer elections and reports from Betty Trachta Merle Roman and Lois Long. Special skits by May nominate two county officer candidates for 1943 and Elaine Merrill reports on the state 4 H Conservation Camp. Open to the public with invitations to parents and club friends.

J C Club Holds June Breakfast and Elects Officers

The J C Club met at Mrs A J Cray’s home on Tuesday morning June 10 for breakfast, noting weather kept it from the usual May breakfast. Mrs Emlyn Williams and Mrs Ruth Thomas chaired the planning, flowers and food decorated the porch. The year’s program closed with officer elections. Mrs Archie Roberts became president.

Howard Center Schoolmates Assn Holds Annual Reunion

The Howard Center Schoolmates Association plans its annual reunion on Sunday June 15 at the old Howard Center schoolhouse. Events begin 11:00 o clock with a plated dinner at noon and a program in the afternoon. President is A J Evans and secretary is Mrs Laura Shafer.

Legion Auxiliary to Hold Election Meeting

The Lime Springs Auxiliary will meet Tuesday June 17 at the hall for its last regular meeting until September. Officers will be elected, with special music, lunch and bingo. Members are urged to attend and vote. Bring old hats and feather purses for the Knoxville box. Read The Passing Parade.

Le Roy hosts its annual Old Settlers Celebration next Saturday June 14 sponsored by the American Legion and VFW. A 1 15 p m parade leads a day featuring a baseball game band concert and additional attractions across the town.

Kolenbrander and neighbors feature in weekly visits

Rev Wm Kolenbrander and family joined Mrs Klompenhower for a Monday afternoon call. Numerous families, including the Prinsen, Wubbels, Grooters, and Dornink, traveled to Rochester and Harmony across the week. A wedding in Des Moines drew the Kolenbranders away as relatives visited in preparation.

Roberts brothers celebrate Schmidt 45th wedding anniversary

In South Lime Springs the Roberts brothers own a new truck. About 20 friends and relatives arrived Tuesday evening to help Mr and Mrs Jens Schmidt celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. A plentiful lunch was served.
