Pool Contractor to Move In Excavating Equipment Today

Highway Bulfacers of New Hampton prepares Lime Springs Swimming Pool site for excavation, moving in equipment today. Work aims to finish digging in two days after rain delays. preliminary work began Monday with Keane Balk trenching two main lines and Tom Daly laying drain tile. Six western property owners granted feet for an alley, while eastern land owners consented full width on that side. Pool location shifted west and north due to sewer and creamery lines, with north end near the old Frost house, now sold to John Carroll who begins rising the building.

Howard County Field Day Highlights Planting and Drainage Demos

Howard County Extension reports the annual Howard County Experimental Farm Field Day on June 17 as Conservation Week highlights. Demonstrations include plastic tube drainage, ridge planting on twelve inch ridges, and weed control results. William Mensink dies after stroke at 74

Funeral services for William Mensink were held June 4 at Greenleafton Reformed Church with Rev. Win Kolenbrander officiating. He died June 1 after a stroke, aged 74 years, 11 months, 11 days, on the family farm in York Township. He leaves a wife, three sons Hubert Earl and Glen, two sisters, and grandchildren, with Elwyn and Roger serving in France and Korea. Burial is in Greenleafton cemetery.

Newlywed Haven Nielsen establish home in Independence

Newlyweds Burnell Kaye Haven and Patricia Louise Nielsen wed May 16 at Immanuel Lutheran Independence in a double ring ceremony. Lime Springs softball team will open the season with LeRoy at Lion Field on Tuesday June 15. Game time is 8 30.
