Spring Valley Youth Placed in Probation After Extortion Case
Colin Hamlin, Spring Valley youth, plotted to extort money from Lyle Hamlin, also of Spring Valley, with threats. The crime was carried out recently and he received an indeterminate sentence in the St Cloud Reformatory by Judge Peterson in Preston court, the sentence suspended, Roy McLakessee of Spring Valley appointed probation officer.

Gov Turner to speak at Howard County picnic day

Henry Fielt of Shenandoat won the Senate nomination defeating Smith W. Grookhart in Monday's primary as 142 of 2,406 precincts reported. Fielt led Crockhart by over 46,000 votes with about 45 percent of ballots. Turner led in the governor race with Laurein second. Fischer and Long disputed top spots. Long trailing slightly for state auditor, Johnson led Mahen for treasurer by a comfortable margin.
