Bond defeat scuttles How-Winn school project vote
A 58 percent majority opposed the How-Winneshiek Community School District bond proposal to build elementary schools in Lime Springs and Cresco. Only Lime Springs and Cresco centers approved, while six other centers rejected the plan by margins up to 91 percent. About 2,090 votes were cast with 34 spoiled. A secondary site fund proposal fared slightly better with 42 percent approval. Board plans next steps for potential future action.

Sudden Death of Hy Rosenblum in Little Rock
Word received of the death of Hyman Rosenblum at his Little Rock store on June 3 from a heart attack. Survived by wife Lotus and daughters Pamela and Ann. Former Lime Springs Produce Co. manager for Jacob Klempf, left Lime Springs about six years ago. About 55 years old. Burial held Monday in Fordyce Arkansas.

4-H Rally and Tea Recognizes Mothers in Howard County
A county rally and 4-H Mothers Recognition Tea drew 400 participants including 250 4-H members and 194 members with 139 mothers. Corsages and clover cookie cutters were given, John Patterson was inducted as honorary member of the Howard County Girls 4-H. Larry Anton spoke on his IFYE experiences. clubs contributed 350 dollars to the project.
