The Lime Springs Municipal Band presents the second concert of the 1956 season on Wednesday June 13 at 8 00 pm The program includes True Blue March My Hero Waltz Tea For Two Youmans Btout Hearted Men Town Band Law American Boy March and more Band members earn attendance credits for rehearsals and concerts A $5 fee applies for summer lessons and organizations may arrange solos or numbers by contacting Mr Miller
Delores Schutte and Roger Van Der Heyden exchanged wedding vows May 24 at St Paul Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. H H Adix with organist Mrs Adix. soloist Anne Hamann of Chester. The couple, both from Lime Springs Cresco, received guests at a reception for 70 in the church basement with a white, yellow and blue decor and a three tier cake.
The old barn and one room Old Town School at the Vern Howard place is being razed after sale to William Noblett of Cresco. The former school stood west of the road from Lime Springs to Old Town. It housed four grades with about 40 students under Ella Mae Pettit, later teaching in Lime Springs. The building was moved to its present site and used as a barn. students then attended Lime Springs School.
Forty people gathered at Mr and Mrs Wm Miles home for a family reunion honoring Charles and Gladys Schacht on their 43rd wedding anniversary. Attendees included siblings-in-law and spouses from Cresco Lime Springs Waterloo Los Angeles and Wyke Furthers. A cake with a rose and wedding vow was shared as flowers were sent by relatives. Also notes on progress and plans for a new athletic field with volunteer help tonight at 6 45 p m.
In Monday’s primary, Hazel Richmond of Elma the 3rd district incumbent lost by seven votes to Howard Niedert of Riceville 182 to 189. Walter Gebel edged Ralph Marr 185 to 146 for the 3rd district Democratic nomination, with Peter Kemmer unopposed for the 2nd district Republican nod. ADA McCarville won the Democratic nomination for county supervisor, and Republicans renominated Erwin Marshall for sheriff alongside other county offices. In Humboldt the 64th wedding anniversary of Gus and his wife was observed.
The Lime Springs Girls' softball team won their second North East Iowa Softball League game at Fredericksburg on Sunday 28 to 5. Judy Lloyd pitched a two hit five inning win before being relieved in the sixth by her sister. Joyce Maronde pitched the seventh. Karen Lloyd led with five hits in six at bats. The team stands 2-0 in league play with next home game vs Tonia on Friday June 15 at 6 15 at the Legion Field.
