Corporal Robert W Wemette son of Mr and Mrs Oscar Wemette recently graduated from the Seventies Army Non Commissioned Officers Academy at Munich Germany The six week course covered weapons administration tactics supply physical fitness and organization Students were selected by their unit commanders Corporal Wemette an ammunition agent in the Service Battery of the 14th Field Artillery Battalion entered the army in January 1951 A West lim Wis high school graduate who attended Platteville State Teachers College Dr Stoakes Receives 50 Year Medal from IEC Dr and Mrs Charles Stoakes attended the 69th annual Alumni Faculty Reunion at the Iowa State Teachers College Commons Cedar Falls on Sunday Dr Stoakes who graduated from the college in 1802 was one of 23 class members who received 50 year medals and individual recognition Mrs J Calson of Cresco also attended Many of the 1027 class returned for their 26th anniversary Class members from 1887 1859 down to 1951 joined in the alumni meeting.

About 150 friends and relatives gathered at the Schmidt home in Lime Springs to honor the couples Golden Wedding Anniversary. Jens N Schmidt and wife married June 3, 1902 in Clinton county. Eight of nine children attended with 21 grandchildren and three twin granddaughters. Attendees included lifelong friends and relatives from Monmouth Iowa and several distant places such as Bell Ingham Washington Baraboo Wisconsin and California.

Remembering the old roller skating rink and town changes
A long vanished roller skating rink once stood where Applen's store now sits. Ashton Hell, later county sheriff, owned it. the building later housed a hardware store run by 8. A. Miller. Exchange State Bank installed two new posting machines this spring, operated by Mrs. Bud Kimball and Leland A. Johnson, boosting efficiency and error detection. The bank also added safety deposit boxes and is installing a new hot water furnace. Luther College seniors include Joan Williams and Marie Munich from Lime Springs among 133 grads earning B A degrees. A Golden Anniversary is celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Jens N. Schmidt and family, with thanks to friends and relatives.

Professor Paulus Lange Dies Suddenly at Ames in 60th Year
Professor Paulus Lange of Iowa State College Ames died from a heart attack Friday evening May at his Ames home. He was 60 and taught English and Speech. Lange was born December 17 1891 in Lime Springs Iowa and served as a veteran of World War I. He held degrees from Augu stana College and the University of Illinois and held several leadership posts in university and state education circles. Funeral services were held Monday at the Congregational church in Ames. Burial was in the college cemetery. Memorial funds were established for church work.
