Riceville Class of 1965 Commencement at High School
Commencement exercises for the Riceville Community High School class of 1965 were held Monday evening May 24 at 8 p.m. at the athletic field. The program opened with an invocation by Reverend M. Stanley Ballard and closed with a benediction. Diplomas were presented by Mr. Chris Bodensteiner, a Maieville School Board member. The class roster lists dozens of graduates including Edward Ackerman Darrel Anderson Jean Bauer Keith Betts Mary Betts Larry Bill Jim Bodenham and others.

The Lewis Chamberlain family were honored on Sunday May 23 as Saratoga Church joined Westminster Presbyterian to bid farewell. He leaves for Dallas Texas after serving since coming from Amarillo. Gifts and prayers were offered by Saratoga and Westminster members with music by Tom Price and organist Elizabeth Jones.

Kenneth A Klingsheim 22 of Harmony died May 20 1965 at Saint Marys Hospital Rochester after a two and a half year illness. Born June 11 1942 in Cresco Iowa he grew up near Harmony and graduated Harmony High School in 1960. He was active in F F A and 4 H and worked in farming and cattle feeding with his father. Survived by his parents two sisters Mrs Roger Watson Rochester and Mrs Ray Bentdahl Rushford, three nephews and a niece. Funeral May 23 Greenfield Lutheran church at 2 30 pm. Interment Greenfield cemetery. Pallbearers listed. Peterson Abraham Funeral Home in charge.

A century ago Lime Springs residents watched a Des Moines newspaper promote their town with a full page ad showing Lime Springs on an Iowa map. The scheme promised investment and factories, but locals soon learned the campaign lacked follow through and left the town with heavy bills and no new industry.

Crash At Saratoga Hospitalizes Pilot and Saratoga Man
A light plane from Riceville crashed Tuesday near Saratoga, injuring the pilot Pat Murphy and passenger Russell Lee. Murphy suffers a compound leg fracture and spinal injuries, while Lee has spinal injuries but is listed in satisfactory condition. The crash site was fenced off for investigation by Sheriff Percy Haven.
