Lime Springs Methodist votes to build $32,000 educational unit

The Lime Springs Methodist Church approved a $32,000 one story brick educational unit with basement, to be added south of the present church. The plan includes four classrooms and an assembly room on the main floor and a choir room and more classrooms in the basement. Completion follows two years of study and district approval.

Anniversary Open House for J F Steinmetz 25th wedding anniversary

Mr and Mrs Joel F Steinmetz celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with an Open House at 308 5th Avenue East Cresco on Sunday June 5 from 2:00 to 4:30 and 7:00 to 9:00 Invitations not being sent. Theodore L Kessler 81 of Riceville died May 21 at home survived by wife three daughters and five sons including Leonard of Lime Springs.

Lime Springs Memorial Day Observed Under American Legion Auspices

Memorial Day observance in Lime Springs under Lloyd L. Norton American Legion Post No. 545 with Earl Foote commander included School Band Legion Auxiliaries and scouts at the gym and Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A Navy dead tribute at Lidtke Park followed by a program with invocations, songs, a Memorial Day address by Rev. Merlin Ackerson, and prayers for peace.

Old Settlers Picnic and Town News in Chester

Chester hosts Old Settlers Picnic with parades contests and events Saturday. Traffic crash south of the Old Town bridge injured Larry Peters and A C Severson. Peters taken to Cresco Hospital. Sheep loss reported near Treez with 91 lost, 32 saved to higher ground amid Wolf Creek flood.
