Reunion Alumni Celebrate With Music And Remembrances
Alumni from Lime Springs light up a drizzly reunion with a full house. Paul Nagel of Cresco leads a program of humor and memories, Lucile Elwood from Des Moines sings, Gordon Williams offers a welcome, and Margaret Behrens delivers the opening remarks. Sunday morning features a mixed choir, solos by Mrs. W. W. Thomas and Dorothy Rowles, and brief sermons by Rev. Hughes and Rev. Harries. The baccalaureate service closes a day of reflection and community.

Alumni Homecoming Sparks Half Century Reunion in Lime Springs
An exuberant Homecoming and 50th anniversary events unfold at Lime Springs with alumni from 1891 and 1900s attending. Rev Robert O Thomas of Dodge City delivers the sermon What’s In A Name discussing lasting legacies. The day includes memorial songs, a picnic, and a packed tent with speeches by Elmer Johnson and local dignitaries.
Two Lime Springs Graduates Toast Iowa State Teachers College
Lime Springs youths Milss Dorothy V. Thomas and Mr. Hermann Hughes earned Bachelor degrees from Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls during the May 29 commencement. Speakers included Dr Samuel Paul Capen of the University of Buffalo as education administrator expert. President O R Latham presented degrees to about 300 graduates.

Lime Springs High shines in 1939 Iowa Every Pup Test results
Lime Springs High School ranked highly in the 1939 Iowa Every Pup Test. The Literature 11 class led its class and placed eighth overall. English Correctness and World History also posted high marks. Betty Fish and Dick Nagel earned individual honors and may enter Brain Derby at Iowa City. Parochial school for Saetersdal opens June 7 with teacher Edmund Olson.

Marriage of local teacher announced in Northwood event
Mr and Mrs W L Hoffman announce the marriage of their youngest daughter Helen Augusta Hoff man to Michael Cunningham of Volga City Iowa. The ceremony occurred February 18 1939 at the parsonage of German Lutheran Church Northwood with Rev Tettle officiating. Helen was educated in rural Iowa schools Arlington Public School class of 1899 Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls 1935 two year elementary course. She taught rural schools near Arlington Volga City for three years and the Lime Springs School for the past two years teaching fifth and sixth grades. Michael is a Volga public school graduate and farms on his father's farm. They will reside on a farm northeast of Volga after June first.

Icounty Girls Rally Day June 10 at Cresco High School
The Howard County 4-H girls hold Rally Day at Cresco High School Little Theatre on Saturday June 10. Registration from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. includes a music contest led by Mrs Lyella M Condon and a Better Groomed Girl contest leading to Ames State 4-H convention. Officers elected in a 6:00 p.m. meeting. Evening program features recognition, a democracy talk by J L Davies, dramatizations, an honorary member initiation, and a one act play. Howard County has about 100 girls in 4-H this year.
