Fire gutted the west portion of the Lloyd Morstad farm home northeast of Riceville on Tuesday evening December 22. The Morstads were not at home. volunteers saved the east part with water damage. Cause undetermined. Fire department arrived at 8 p.m. and worked until about 11 p.m. to prevent total loss.

Funeral services for Mrs Lisette Lienhard died Monday at the home of her daughter Mrs Lydia Evans rural Cresco after a long illness were held Wednesday at 2 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Cresco with burial in New Oregon cemetery. She is survived by four daughters Mrs Evans Mrs Charlotte Rink Cresco Mrs Mina Balen and Mrs Mark Zoeckler both of Davenport three sons Walter Otto both of Cresco and Fred Miami Fla 14 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
