Santa visits Lime Springs as children greet him warmly

Children of Lime Springs welcome Santa Claus on Saturday with a hearty reception. The Lime Springs Community Club distributes sacks of treats to each child, while in the foreground Santa holds Suzanne Williams, daughter of Mr and Mrs Emlyn Williams, as others pose to meet him.

Mrs Kate Thomas Dies at 82 in Lime Springs

Kate Owen Thomas known as Katie, born 1857 in Portage Wisconsin, moved with family to Lime Springs area, married Robert Thomas in 1900, children Albert Gwen and Gladys, Gladys deceased 1932, husband died 1942. She died December 24 1950 at Westminster Church Lime Springs after a cerebral hemorrhage leaving two grandchildren and four others. Funeral held December 27, 1950, interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Clarence Hunter’s Escape From Korean Trap Letter Home

Cpl Clarence A. Hunter of the 52 TC attached to the 7th Infantry writes to his parents from Korea detailing two weeks in freezing mountains above 9,000 feet, being cut off by 160,000 Chinese, surviving a convoy of 12 trucks with 13 enlisted men and one officer, and expecting rotation to the States within two weeks. He recounts extreme cold, wearing multiple layers, and hopes to see family in spring or late summer.
